The York County SPCA Spay / Neuter Clinic
Our Clinic is located at the Brougher Companion Animal Shelter in York Pa. It is operated by the York County SPCA and offers low cost, high quality spay/neuter services to all dogs and cats. Our goal is to increase the number of spay neuter procedures and therefore decrease the amount of euthanasia that occurs in York County. Our address is 3159 Susquehanna Trail North York, PA 17406. We are located at the Emigsville exit from I83 approximately 5 miles north of York.

Please call (717) 764-6109 extension 125 to schedule an appointment. We operate Monday through Friday each week. Cats and dogs are brought to the shelter between 8:00am and 9:00am. The clinic entrance is on the north side of the main entrance to the YCSPCA animal shelter. Convienent parking is available on the north side near the clinic entrance. Weather permitting, please leave your pet in your car and check in with the staff before bringing your pet into the lobby. During check-in there are some procedures to review and payment for any additional services must be made using cash, check, or credit card.

Please call (717) 764-6109 extension 140 to speak with the clinic staff. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. If no one is available to take your call, please leave a message. All phone calls are returned the same day. Customers are also welcome to visit the clinic during regular hours and our staff will assist you.
For post surgical questions
You will receive written and verbal post-surgical care instructions and most animals will recover quickly with no problems. However, if your pet experiences any complications, please bring your pet back for a recheck or call (717) 764-6109 extension 140. You do not need an appointment for a recheck and we are available Monday through Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm for walk-ins.

Dr Kelly BergmanDr. Kelly Bergman, a native of York, received her Bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in 1987 and her doctorate degree from Iowa State University in 1991. She worked at several small-animal hospitals in the Pocono Mountain area from 1991-1997, and started her own house-call practice for cats in 1998. In 2003, she moved back to York and has been working at the York County SPCA ever since. She has been happily married for 14 years, is the proud mother of a 5 year old son, and owns a pit bull, 3 cats and a ferret. |

Dr Jennifer JohnsonDr. Jennifer Johnston did her undergraduate work in Dairy and Animal Science at Penn State University and went on to graduate from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. Upon finishing veterinary school, she completed an equine internship from 2000-2001 in Rochester, New York. She then went on to small animal private practice at various veterinary hospitals in the Harrisburg area before joining the York County SPCA in 2011. Dr. Johnston is married to her husband, Pete, and has a son named Aidan. She also has a shelter-adopted, active mixed Boxer named Wuzzby. Besides her work as a shelter veterinarian, she is an active member of the Veterinary Medical Assistance Team (VMAT-2) and the local County Animal Response Team and has a strong passion for Veterinary Disaster Medicine. She also enjoys spending time with family, scrapbooking, ballroom dancing and horseback riding in her free time. |

Samantha Dunn BeganSamantha Dunn began at the York County SPCA in 2010. She has been working in shelters and the veterinary field for over 6 years. Her passion for animals began with horses when she was 8 years old. Outside of work, Samantha enjoys spending time with her daughter, Kailey, her 2 dogs named Liam and Vienna, 3 cats named Humpfrey Bogart, Feral Frank and Marcelline, and her horse named Bailey. |

Jackie MillerJackie Miller joined the York County SPCA in 2012. She has worked in the animal field for 7 years. Jackie was asked to join the shelter vet staff and had been working as a veterinary technician before the opening of the spay/neuter clinic. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as her English Bulldog, Ladybug. |

Shayla McGinnisShayla McGinnis joined the SPCA team in August of 2013. She has been working with animals since she was 16 years old. She has worked her way up from a kennel technician to veterinary technician. In her free time, Shayla enjoys being outdoors, reading comic books, and spending time with friends and family- especially with her son, Connor, and daughter, October. Her animal family includes 3 cats named Punk, Picasso, and Tweak, 1 dog named Brielle, a bearded dragon named Beardie and a fish named Hammerhead. |

Amy FreyAmy Frey started at the York County SPCA spay/neuter clinic in December of 2013. She has been working with animals in the veterinary field for over 16 years. Her love for animals and caring for them started at a young age helping her grandfather on his farm. Amy has and continues to foster kittens through the shelter. Away from work, Amy enjoys camping, hiking and spending time with her fiancé, Justin, and 2 sons named Caden and Jacob. Amy’s furkids include Joey (dog), Suzie and Sister (cats), and Chewy and Rocky (ferrets). |
